What does it mean to delegate a Node to a Validator?

In the BlackFort Blockchain, users must delegate their Node to a Validator. This process assigns the BXN weight locked in the Node to a Validator Node that validates transactions and earns rewards for doing so. As a delegator, you benefit from these rewards without having to operate a Validator yourself.

Important: Delegation is mandatory to receive staking rewards. Without delegation, these rewards are automatically burned. Similarly, any BXN produced 90 days after your last claim will also be burned if no claim is made.

What are the benefits of delegating with a Node?

  • Additional Income in BXN

By delegating, you receive a share of the transaction fees and block rewards earned by the Validator – a simple way to passively earn BXN.

  • No Technical Requirements

You don’t need your own hardware or technical expertise. The Validator handles the work while you only need to delegate your Node.

  • Low Entry Barriers

Compared to running a Validator, delegating is cost-effective and straightforward.

  • Strengthening the Network

Your delegation supports the security and decentralization of the BlackFort Blockchain by empowering Validators.

Are there risks involved in delegating?

Yes, there are some factors to consider:

  • Validator Fees

Validators charge a commission on the rewards they distribute. Check their terms in advance.

  • Downtime Risks

If a Validator goes offline, your staking rewards will stop accruing, and from that point onward, any further BXN produced will be burned. Monitor your Validator’s performance regularly. Tip: If you own multiple Nodes, you can delegate to different Validators to spread the risk.
